High Voltage is part of the Sneak Monsters limited edition drop that was released for Halloween. I was really excited about this drop because I’m a big classic horror fan and some of the flavours sounded really great! From the drop, my favourite had to be Hair of the Dog (Mango and Peach), but I’ve also reviewed AB Negative Strawberry & Kiwi & Lagoon Water Blueberry Lemonade.
The taste test
So the first thing I noticed was that the powder smelled really bad (I know, rule 1 is don’t smell the powder). To be fair, some of my favourite flavours have an awful powder smell, so it didn’t put me off!
I took my first swig and I suppose it tasted like sour gummy worms, but is wasn’t really what I was hoping for. It wasn’t terrible though! Unfortunately, that’s when the taste experience turned sour (pun, not literally!). The aftertaste was just unpleasant.
The only way that I could describe it was if you had a mouthful of really cheap gums that you found lying in your cupboard for years, and swallowed a load of the slabbers you accumulated in your mouth… (I haven’t tried that mind you, just what I imagine!)
My wife saw my face when the aftertaste hit and laughed. That tells you all you need to know.
After finishing the serving, it wasn’t so disgusting that it deserved to be completely panned, but it just wasn’t to my taste. I would give it a 6/10.
Does it taste like anything else on the market?
I haven’t come across any other energy drinks with this taste, I’m afraid. If you would like to try this flavour, you will need to keep an eye on eBay or hope that Sneak releases this flavour again!
Keep an eye out on their website here (You get 20% off when you use the link – PS. I don’t get any monetary commission from the link!)
