What’s the Best Energy Powder for Gaming? I Tested Them All

If you have been on my site before, you will know that I’m a big fan of nostalgia from the 90s and 00s, but that I would also consider myself a gamer too. I don’t really keep that up-to-date with all of the new ones games, but will give them a try if they tickle my fancy.

Now, the reason that I’m writing this page is that a lot of you have asked me which powdered energy drink is the best for gaming, so I thought I would put them all to the test! You might already know that I done a big review page of powdered energy drinks when I moved over to powdered energy drinks, so i already have all of the supplies to be able to do this experiment.

What’s the Plan?

In short, my plan is to play a bunch of games that I love just now, drink each brand of energy drink in separate gaming sessions so that I can get a real feel for what each brand brings to the table, how they help with my gaming and what affects they have afterwards (fatigue, headaches, etc). This test might not bring anything major to light, but at least it will be honest and like some other sites that are just pretending to get you to buy from their sponsored company!

What games am I going to play during the test?

What a good-looking question! These might get me laughed at (don’t worry, you haven’t travelled back in time!), but these are my current favourites that I think cover most of the game types that you are probably looking for!

  • Heretic/Hexen Remaster – Classic Boomer Shooter with puzzles
  • Team Fortress 2 – Chaotic online FPS
  • Counterstrike 2 – high-stakes tactical FPS (although I will be playing GunGame)
  • Balatro – focus-based, fast deck-building strategy game
  • Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 2 – Reflexes & rhythm
  • Day of the Tentacle – Low-stress puzzle game
  • Age of Mythology – Real-time strategy game

The Results!

I think it would be best if I was to break down each brand to give you an idea of what the pros and cons were, to tailor the brand to what you are looking for. Here are the results.

Wraith Energy

🏆 Geeky Gorevan’s Top Pick – Wraith Energy

Wraith Energy is a clear winner in my point of view. The flavour is really nice, so it’s not a brand that you screw up your face when you are drinking and you are more than eager to get another gulp in between games.

Summary:

  • My reflexes felt really sharp when playing FPS games
  • I was able to concentrate really well when it came to puzzles and understanding my strategies
  • No crash mid-game or afterwards, fresh as a daisy.

I started off playing Team Fortress 2 for some classic mayhem. I could feel the caffeine get into my system really quickly. I played as the Scout, slapping everyone with the baseball bat, then moved into Spy… Gentlemen! This theme continued throughout all of the action games I played, and when it came down to the focus or strategy and puzzles, Wraith really did feel like I had a bit of a cheat code on!

Sneak Energy

Summary:

  • My reflexes felt really sharp when playing FPS games
  • I was able to concentrate really well when it came to puzzles and understanding my strategies
  • No crash mid-game or afterwards.

Sneak just missed out on the top spot, but they still did very, very well on the test. I followed the same game pattern throughout the test, just to keep things consistent, and I felt a boost, although it did feel like it took a bit longer to kick in this time.

The taste is pleasant, but it really depends on which flavour you go for. There are some flavours that just don’t agree with me, but if you get the right flavour for you, you are on to a winner.

Glytch Energy

Summary:

  • My reflexes felt really sharp when playing FPS games, and I felt a really good buzz.
  • I was able to concentrate okay when it came to puzzles and understanding my strategies.
  • No crash mid-game, but did later on that night.

Glytch flavours are one of my favourites on the market, but they do need to be imported from USA, so they can get pretty pricey. The FPS and action games is where Glytch shines, I felt an almost instant buzz and it lasted for a long time. I wasn’t quite as good with the puzzle games, but still better than without.

My only negatives were that it gave me heartburn and had a bit of a crash later on that night.

G Fuel

Summary:

  • My reflexes felt really sharp when playing FPS games, and I felt a really good buzz.
  • I was able to concentrate okay when it came to puzzles and understanding my strategies.
  • Did get a bit of a headache by the end of the session and a crash not long after

Gfuel is another brand from USA, but their branding is pretty much aimed at gamers, so you would have thought that they would have been at the top of the list! The taste is great, and it gave me an almost instant buzz (It might also be the tang that helps). The only downside was the headache and the crash. I imagine that if I were to take another dose by the end of the session, I would have been fine, but with how far the industry has come, I would expect better from the formula.

This can get a bit pricy also because you need to import, but if you wish to buy, you can use the code XP-FY4D12WE for $10 off. Visit their website here.

Holy Energy

Summary:

  • The taste is just not for me. It was torture to drink.
  • My reflexes felt okay, but I didn’t have a good buzz on because of the taste.
  • By the time that I got to the strategy and puzzle games, I couldn’t really focus because i knew I had to continue drinking it!
  • I didn’t get any crashes or headaches

I really don’t like scoring a company low, especially a company that seems to be great for their customer service, but I just can’t get over the taste of their product. I’m hoping that their formula changes in the future, but it would require a bit of an overhaul to get it to a place where I would like it. If you are really keen, then do give them a try as they have a money-back guarantee (at least they did when i ordered). Taste is subjective, but for the purposes of this trial, I just have to be honest with my own tastes and experiences. Sorry Holy! Click here to view their website
