This review spawned from another review page that I was doing, but they were somewhat related because a lot of the companies sell deodorant too (Men’s Soap Reviews).
You may already be familiar with my other no BS reviews that I’ve done in the past (Like Best Powdered Energy Drinks, which has helped over 10,000 people, for example), but the purpose of this review page is going to be the exact same… I’m going to try out all these brands (and as many companies as I possibly can) to let you know what I think of them.
Why did you create this page?
I’m always pretty suspicious of brands trying to BS me, and with the increase in influencers peddling products that are terrible, it’s pretty hard for anyone to trust these influencer videos!
This page will work the same way as my other review pages. It will be a way for me to reference all the different brands that I’ve tried, stop me going back to any brands that are crap and will hopefully answer if these natural deodorants are actually better than our usual go-tos.
What’s the plan?
Well, this page will end up being a massive project because my plan is to try as many deodorant brands as possible (even though it will be expensive!). I will create a heading for each brand/company that I use, list my personal opinion of how it performed (how it feels on my skin, how it smells, how long it lasted, how much it costs, etc), then I will list my recommendations based on this experience.
So… Let’s get started!
What is your current opinion?
Okay, so it is still early days… but I’ve had a couple of days of using Bare Bar and… I can’t believe how effective this is! I applied the deodorant at 9 am, went about my day at work, did a weight workout during the day and went about my usual activities of the day (went for a walk to the shops, dropped off post, etc) … By the time that 23:30 came around, it still smelled as strong as it did when I applied it. I didn’t smell of body odour at all (confirmed with the wife!). I must admit, it has outperformed what I even thought was possible!

Bare Bar
Bare Bar is an English brand that features a happy bear in a shower as their logo. They are a really small company, so it appeals to me that I’m helping out an individual, rather than the corporate machine! They have a fantastic range of men’s soap and plastic-free, natural deodorant.
I have had an absolutely brilliant experience with Bare Bar so far. Their customer service is utterly fantastic (really, really friendly).
For this review, I tried the Woodsman scent. It wasn’t overwhelming, but you could really smell it on yourself for ages, which is cool (with some sprays you only smell it for a couple of minutes. There was a bit of a cinnamon hit to this scent, which was nice!
| Smell: 9/10 | I’m a big fan of the smell. It’s a strange one. You can smell it yourself, but it’s not very strong for other people. My wife had to sniff my armpits to get a whiff! To be fair, it’s a deodorant, not an aftershave! |
| Feeling on my skin: 10/10 | I have tried roll on deodrant and cream before, and I didn’t like the feeling of it when my armpits touched my t-shirt… With Bare Bar, I don’t even notice it. Perfect! |

Dr Squatch is an American brand that features a loveable, smartly dressed Sasquatch/Big Foot as their logo. This is a really big brand, and it certainly feels more corporate as a result.

Bulldog Skincare
Bulldog Skincare don’t have a lot of information on their website about their origins, but it’s clear to see that they are a really big global corporation. If I can help it, I always tend to lean towards small businesses based in the UK, but as always, I’ll be impartial when it comes to this review.

The Black Stuff is a small Irish soap company owned by John Larkin and run by a very small team. With this company, you aren’t feeding the corporate machine, but instead are helping out a small independent business!

| Marketing/Branding: 7.5/10 | My ancestry is all based in Ireland, so Ireland appeals to me, but I can imagine that if I had no ties to Ireland, it wouldn’t be quite as high a score. |
| Customer Service: 7/10 | I reached out to their customer service and never got a response back. After around 9 days I reached out again and got a response, though. Mistakes happen! |
