If you grew up in the UK and didn’t get to experience the joy that was Lucky Bags, then I am genuinely gutted for you! These mystery bags were fantastic, cheap paper bags that had sweets, toys and activity packs in them. Let’s be honest with ourselves here… looking back, the stuff that you get inside wouldn’t entertain anyone these days, but back then, they were a great way to keep us entertained (and quiet!).
These bags are pretty rare to come by these days, unfortunately, so if I’m able to find one that is sealed, I’ll do I video on it and get some more photos!
This page is set up so that we can document all of the nostalgia around the Mr Lucky Bags and what we used to get inside them!
Sweets
These bags were packed full of goodies, but one of the main things that I remember from them is their awful fruity pastilles! These came in little boxes with designs on them, but I can still take that flavour to this day!
Colouring Books
What kid doesn’t love colouring in? Well, these packs provided you with little colouring books to give our parents some peace and quiet for 10 minutes! Don’t forget to stay in the lines folks!
Collectible Cards
The 90s were collective card daft! I know there are still some CCGs these days, but the fad isn’t really what it used to be in the 90s and early 00s. These cards however, nobody really cared about collecting (Sorry if you were one of the people who did!)
Puzzles, Crayons and competitions!
As a kid, you would always imagine that you had a chance at winning one of these awesome competitions, but in reality, I don’t think I even really checked to see if I had won! Too busy playing with the toys!
Toys!
Unfortunately, there isn’t a lot of information out there about what kind of toys were in the lucky bags, but I will keep this page updated when I find more!
Mega Pets
The one series that I have a picture of was the Mega Pets toys. These were little animals that you could stick on your fingers. There were 24 of them in total to collect.
Mr Lucky Bags Collection
This toy collection was based around the mascot Mr Lucky Bags doing various activities like playing football, handgliding and flying.
Horrors N Heroes
Horrors N Heroes were monster figures available from the Horror Bag (another version of Mr Lucky Bags), with 16 figures to collect. These figures were inspired by creatures of mythology and were awesome. If you would like to see a list of these figures (with photos), take a look here.
Unfortunately, I don’t have any advertising material for the monster figures from this pack (although I have seen them online), but once I’m able to get some, I will update the page!

Dick Turtle Lucky Bags weren’t the only lucky bags that you could get hold of back in the day. Here is will update the other luck bags that were about growing up.
Horror Bag
This awesome lucky bag was probably my go-to when I got a bit older (I think I was destined to be a goth). They were from the same company (Mr Lucky Bag), but were horror-themed!
Action Man
I grew up with my two brothers (I’m the oldest), so I didn’t get the Action Man lucky bags for myself, but I always remember my youngest brother having Action Man lucky bags!
